Description
As a part of our Five Year Anniversary Celebration, this 90-minute writing retreat format blends writing, networking, and peer review. Participants will be divided up into small groups to present their writing projects in a supportive, forward thinking, and innovative environment for two 15 minute time periods. After the second rotation, participants will have independent writing time to incorporate the feedback and reflections from the peer reviews. The retreat will end with participants creating a writing schedule complete with dates/times and project goals. Example projects to bring to the retreat include book chapters, journal articles, research proposals, revise and resubmit manuscripts, and reports.

The purpose of this workshop is to
1. Identify who is leading what CGEST-related writing project
2. Engage co-authors
3. Develop a writing schedule with the intent of submitting a bevy of CGEST pieces before June 1, 2022.
Come ready to provide a 30-second presentation of a CGEST-writing idea no matter its state! This will be a very interactive and hands on session.

These workshops are led by affiliate ASU faculty Dr. Carlotta Arthur of The Henry Luce Foundation. As Director of the Program for Women in STEM, Dr. Arthur brings years of strategic insight towards helping create a winning partnership for your endeavors. This unique opportunity will only be offered twice, once in the Fall and again in the Spring.
Feel free to attend one or both! There will be plenty to build on if you choose to attend the second session.
Participants can expect to:
- Learn effective strategies to identify and approach private philanthropic organizations.
- Learn how to effectively navigate interpersonal relationships with private philanthropic organizations.
- Improve understanding of, and assimilate, ASU policy for application to private foundations.
Upon successful completion of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- Identify prospective private philanthropic organizations in alignment with participants’ funding needs.
- Discuss the role of interpersonal relationships in private philanthropic grantmaking.
- Understand the role of the ASU Foundation in outreach to private philanthropic organizations
